Ole Gunnar Solskajer has been reportedly snubbed by Manchester United's players in the battle for the caretaker manager's job.

Either Michael Carrick or Solskjaer is set to be named manager by United to the end of the season after last week's dismissal of Ruben Amorim.

However, the Mirror says former United midfielder and Middlesbrough manager Carrick is now set to be named interim manager after several senior players complained about Solskjaer to directors.

It's claimed a senior group approached management to make clear they didn't want the Norwegian to return. Solskjaer previously had three seasons in charge at Old Trafford.

Carrick, 44, is on track to be named United caretaker manager over the next 24 hours.
