Team news

Le Bris first gave a positive piece of team news as he confirmed his only concern heading into the clash is Omar Alderete:

"It's not really serious but the concussion protocol is really strict and we followed it so he won't be available this weekend.

"Probably he will get some minutes with his national team progressively and get ready for Sunderland against Fulham."

Xhaka's knowledge of Arsenal is crucial

Next, questions turned to captain Granit Xhaka, who Le Bris said has insider knowledge of Arsenal which may prove useful in securing points this weekend.

"It's useful in different ways. His knowledge about Arsenal is important for us so we spoke together with the coaching staff over the week.

"The main point is belief, the way he can transmit confidence to the squad to tell the players we can win something against this quality. This part is also really important."

How can Sunderland stop Arsenal?

Focus remained on Arsenal and how Sunderland can stop their infamous set pieces which have helped them to the top of the league.

"One of the best teams in Europe at the moment, I think. It’s a big challenge, an exciting challenge. It will be a good test for us.

"I don’t know if this is possible! We know their strength. They can score from many different phases."

On Arteta: "Really good coach. One of the coaches with the ability to have a full vision."

Wenger was an inspiration to Le Bris

Finally, the media asked if former Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger was an inspiration to Le Bris as he began his managerial journey.

"Absolutely. Really famous in France, worked in Arsenal for over 20 years doing an amazing job. The style of play, the way he built the squad with many young players. The vision of the whole project.

"He was very influential for us as young coaches."
