The Frenchman's contract expires next summer and, as contract talks continue to stall, he will be available on a free transfer when the season ends in what will be a huge blow for already under pressure manager Arne Slot.
The 26-year-old will be free to sign a pre-contract agreement with non-English clubs as early as January 1st which is just over a month away.
Reports over the past few months stated that Madrid were ready to enter talks with the defender as they seek to copy the move for Trent Alexander-Arnold last season.
However, as reported by Fabrizio Romano, Madrid now have no interest in snapping up Konate who has had a very poor start to the season.
“Real Madrid have informed Liverpool that they won’t proceed with Ibrahima Konaté deal for 2026.
“After having Konaté on shortlist for long time, deal off — reports @TheAthleticFC
“Konaté, still discussing new deal at Liverpool. Proposal on the table, no final decision yet.”
Bayern Munich and Paris Saint-Germain have also been credited with an interest in Konate who has not helped his chances of making a move away as the season goes on.
The Reds have been reliant on Konate and Virgil Van Dijk through a congested period due to injuries to Giovanni Leoni and Joe Gomez, which has not helped their defensive woes.
