Tottenham suffered their sixth consecutive loss across all competitions this week in a brutal 5-2 result against Atletico Madrid.
Spurs are just one point above the Premier League relegation zone with just nine games remaining in a dismal season and are still searching for their first domestic win in 2026.
The Atletico loss was Igor Tudor’s fourth defeat in four games as he prepares to face Premier League champions Liverpool this weekend, his side have been sent a message from Postecoglou who believes they still have fight within them.
"If I was there now that's what I'd be saying to them: don't go into history for the wrong thing now," Postecoglou said.
"There's a great motivation for you, don't be the group that takes a backwards step now, because they were the group that brought success after 17 years (by winning the Europa League).
"Let me tell you, for us to win the Europa League last year, if there wasn't character we wouldn't be able to do it. We were under pressure last year too but I saw a group of players absolutely focused on creating something special. It exists."
The Australian was sacked earlier this season and was replaced by Thomas Frank who was also let go in favour of Tudor who is failing to turn the side around.
Spurs will face Chelsea, Aston Villa, and relegation rivals Leeds United in their final 8 games of the Premier League season in what is a tough run for the side who are staring relegation in the face.
