Tottenham fullback Pedro Porro has explained his blast for young teammate Lucas Bergvall after defeat at home to Fulham on Saturday night.

Porro took issue with Bergvall's attempts to applaud the home support at the final whistle and was filmed bawling out his young teammate.

The Portugal defender posted to social media on Sunday: "Football is emotions. In football, as in life, there can always be mistakes,' he wrote on Instagram.

"What I will not tolerate is hearing disrespect from the fans to my team-mates, hence my frustration at the end of the game.

"And we will get up. We remind you, six months ago, everything was so bad. In the end, it is not how it begins but how it ends.

"To the true Spurs fans, I love you."

Porro was referring to the jeers and whistles for goalkeeper Guglielmo Vicario after he was caught out for Harry Wilson's goal in Fulham's 2-0 win.
