Barcelona legend Gerard Pique has praised Marcus Rashford for his adaption to La Liga this season.

Rashford is expected to depart Old Trafford when his loan at Barcelona expires in the summer after being forced into the “bomb squad” under manager Ruben Amorim who was keen to push him out of the side in the summer.

The England international joined manager Hansi Flick's side on a season-long loan from United in July, and has since scored six goals and provided eight assists for the La Liga giants.

It has been a seamless transition for the forward, who has surprised many in Spain who believed he may have flopped. Asked who has surprised him most this season, Pique picked the 28-year-old without hesitation.

"Rashford. I think he had a very good start, now let's see how he continues. He scored two goals in the match against Newcastle, he has contributed and helped a lot since the beginning."

Barcelona plan to replace the ageing Robert Lewandowski ahead of the expiry of his contract, and Rashford is available for just £26M as part of his loan deal. He is expected to replace Lewandowski in the summer as Rashford moves away from United permanently.

It's understood Rashford's relationship with manager Ruben Amorim is soured, and he is very unlikely to feature for the Red Devils again.
