Standard Sport report that the England international underwent a medical on Wednesday ahead of his free transfer to the American club and after spending last year on loan at Sheffield United he will make his move to America in the coming days.
Holding’s move to the Eagles was one to forget as he made just one first-team appearance due to injury setbacks, whilst he also fell out of favour with manager Oliver Glasner who did not see him as first team potential.
The 29-year-old joined the Eagles from Arsenal for £4M in September 2023 and made 11 appearances during his brief time with the Blades as they failed to gain promotion to the Premier League. Holding made his only appearance for Crystal Palace in a 3-0 defeat to Manchester United three weeks after joining.
Palace released a short statement on his departure, which is one fans will want to forget.
“Crystal Palace F.C. can confirm that Rob Holding has left the club.
“Holding joined Palace in September 2023 from fellow Premier League side Arsenal.
“The defender spent the latter half of last season on loan at Sheffield United, where he played 12 times.
“The club wishes Rob well for his future career.”
Holding tallied over 100 appearances for Arsenal and was a steady option for the Gunners for a number of years. However, manager Mikel Arteta decided it was time for him to move on and now he finds himself in the same situation at Palace who see him as surplus to requirements.
