The pair are now with Sweden's squad, with Isak having left Newcastle for Nottingham Forest during Monday's transfer deadline day.
Elanga joined Newcastle from Nottingham Forest over the summer and recalled to Expressen: "He is a footballer who has made his choice. Right now I have the opportunity to play with him in the national team.
"For me he is a soccer player. Then there will always be rumours and such. When I was with him, he was completely focused and professional. Right now is a Liverpool player so I support him and wish him luck."
Elanga also emphasised that he did not talk to Isak about the striker's situaton.
"We mostly talked about how I felt and how happy I was with the move. That was all we talked about," he added.
