Isak remains adamant he wants to leave Newcastle United despite not handing in a transfer request, no second bid coming from Liverpool and talks with chairman Yasir Al-Rumayyan on Monday that have not convinced him to stay.
The 25-year-old also issued a statement last week claiming promises made to him by the club have been broken and that his relationship with the side had come to an end. Guimaraes has revealed Newcastle's players want the transfer saga to be resolved as quickly as possible as their performances on the pitch wain.
“I haven't had any contact with him," Guimaraes told ESPN Brasil.
"We've been training in the mornings, and he trains at a different time, when no one from the team is around.
"As captain, and for us as players, it's a tough situation because we want to have the best players with us. But that's something we can't control - the club, the management, the owners are dealing with it, and I hope it gets sorted out in the best way.”
Liverpool are thought to be ready to make a second offer after the opening £110M bid was rejected more than three weeks ago but with just a few days left of the summer transfer window it seems increasingly unlikely that a deal will be struck.
Guimaraes almost pleaded with Isak to return to the side who have failed to secure a replacement for him despite constant bids for various strikers in recent weeks. The Newcastle squad have failed to win any of their opening game and now miss Antony Gordon through suspension as they face Leeds United this weekend.
“We're really missing our striker, a player who scored more than 20 goals in the Premier League last season, so of course he's someone we feel the absence of. We hope to have our best player back, but unfortunately this is a situation that neither I nor any other player can control."
