The 25-year-old is training away from his Newcastle team-mates after making clear he wants to join Liverpool despite having three years left on his contract and having not handed in a transfer request over the past month.
Liverpool had a £110M bid rejected for Isak at the beginning of the month and no progress had been made since over a deal that looks dead in the water as the final days of the transfer window approach. Speaking to Esports Bets, Waddle ripped into The Magpies who he feels should have sold the Swedish international a long time ago.
"If I were Newcastle, I would sell Alexander Isak this week. I know a lot of fans are urging the club to keep him to punish him, but we’re not talking about a player that is worth a couple million pounds.
“Isak’s transfer would be a nine-figure sum – an incredible amount of money; there’s too much money involved for him to sit in the reserves. If he does leave and Liverpool is his destination, I’d take the £100M plus add-ons and that would be the end of the chapter.
“The whole situation has been a shambles; it’s been handled like a pub team – it’s embarrassing. Whether it’s Isak himself or his agent, they’ve gone about it in completely the wrong way.”
Isak hasn't kicked a ball for Newcastle since May and will likely never feature for the side again despite being called up to the Sweden side earlier this week. He has since released a statement on social media accusing Newcastle of breaking a promise to allow him to leave this summer as the transfer saga continues and Isak remains with a club that he desperately wants to leave.
