Moyes admits they will be leaning on the teen as they lose fellow Iliman Ndaiye to the Africa Cup of Nations with Senegal.
He said, “We've not necessarily needed Tyler at the moment because our wide players are doing okay. I see them every day in training.
"They've got good bits to go - they're not the finished article, anyway. I'm the one who gets a chance to see them most days and probably have an idea of what they're capable of. So we need them to step up. We want them as promising players.”
Discussing last week's draw with Sunderland, Moyes also stated: “We weren't the dominant team at the time, so we've got to try and pick and choose the players who we thought might have been able to help us at those moments.
"I don't know if it was the right place and the right time for Tyler for example. So we chose Dwight (McNeil) and that was our decision at the time.”
