The Toffees secured a 2-0 win over Fulham at Hill Dickinson Stadium on Saturday afternoon in what was one of their best performances of the season. Moyes was impressed with his side but more specifically Garner who, although a midfielder, filled in at right back.
“He’s been so good, he’s played great in midfield and I’ve said a couple of times recently he’s getting closer to being talked about for England because of his performances, he’s played fullback as well, he’s done a brilliant job for us.”
Garner’s last international appearance was during the victorious 2023 UEFA Under-21 Championship, and although he was looked over by Tuchel for the upcoming World Cup qualifiers, Moyes believes he should be in with a shout.
“I think Alex Scott has done brilliantly for Bournemouth as well, and England have got so many good players to select.
“So for him (Thomas Tuchel) to try and select a team, with discussions all week about Jude Bellingham and Phil Foden…
“All I’m saying is Jimmy is one of the best young midfield players who in the future has a chance of getting a call up.”
Garner has played every available minute this season and has become pivotal for Moyes who clearly sees a lot of potential in the youngster who has a ton of versatility.
The World Cup is in less than a year’s time, and Tuchel has a lot of decisions to make before picking his team. What is certain is that Garner must impress over the next few months to ensure that he is on Tuchel’s radar and not overlooked.
