In the January window last season, Everton spent a grand total of £0 and did not bring in any loan players for the entirety of the window in what was a disappointing month for the club.
Now, with the window open once more, Moyes has opened up in his latest press conference about how fans should not get their hopes up as any incomings are once again, unlikely.
"I think we're probably more unlikely than likely, but I wouldn't say that completely because we're out there looking to see what there is and to see if we can get something.
"But I wouldn't want to get everyone's hopes up. If I say likely, you might think that means we're on to something.
"We're looking at some players, and we're looking if we can add to the squad, and if we can, we will, but we'll be quite careful with it."
Nine summer signings were made on Merseyside after a slow January window last season. As Everton take it slow once more, a big summer spend could come once again as the Toffees aim to land in the European spots.
Reports state that Everton could be relatively close to the PSR limit, having splashed out over £100M in the summer. This means the side may have to sell to buy if they are to bring in suggested transfer targets in Jorgen Strand Larsen, Ivan Toney and Artem Dovbyk.
