Everton manager David Moyes has spoken to the media as he prepares to take on Burnley this weekend.

Everton won 8 of the last 14 meetings with Burnley, including both Premier League fixtures last season. Burnley are languishing in 19th place with just 11 points from 17 games, and the Toffees are clear favourites heading into the clash.

What are Everton's January plans?

Moyes, who could help his side climb to 7th with a win, first spoke on the club’s plans for the January transfer window, which is quickly approaching.

"I have always said that I don't think we will be doing a lot of business in January. If we find some players, we will be delighted to do it. The CEO will be as well, and the owners too.

“It's more to do with trying to have a plan. The ownership wants us to have a plan and prepare in a certain fashion. I don't think it will be coming up with a lot of quick fixes. That's the way it's moving."

On whether he needs a new striker: "Maybe I like to bring other things in as well if I could. We don't' want to get everybody's hopes up. There is an awful lot of speculation. I sort of laugh at it a little bit."

Branthwaite is close to returning

As Moyes prepares to welcome more players into the side, defender Jarrad Branthwaite is close to being fully fit, which will be a huge boost for the club who are seeking European football this season.

"Jarrad is getting closer to getting on the grass now. Hopefully, we can have him back by the end of the month, but it's a bit longer than I wanted to see."

"But he's not due to integrate back in with the squad for another two to three weeks so it's not as if we'll get him back quickly but it's beginning to look a lot better. My bigger worry is he's missed so much of the season. But we need him back. Just having him back in the squad would be great for the numbers."

Finally, Moyes commented on the busy schedule that he and every Premier League manager is facing at the moment.

"They don't make it easy. They don't want to have any conversation about it, really. They will have, but they don't really want to. Because they will probably find it very difficult to explain the decisions."
