Former Inter Milan and Everton defender Marco Materazzi has suggested how Sandro Tonali could be a success at Manchester United.

United are set for a very busy summer as they look to find a suitable replacement for a Casemiro who announced that he will depart the side earlier this season.

The Brazilian has racked up seven goals and two assists from 29 outing in the English top flight, despite being a defensive midfielder under interim boss Michael Carrick who will find it hard to replace him.

Several names have been linked with the Red Devils including Newcastle’s Tonali who Materazzi spoke to Hajper about how he may only find success with the club if Casemiro agrees to stay.

“Would United be a good move for Sandro Tonali? I would only like to see him if he can play next to Casemiro next season.

“Casemiro now plays every game for United and he plays well. You never know. He could stay at United. Maybe if Michael Carrick stays and says that he wants to keep Casemiro he will stay?

“I think Tonali and Casemiro would be a very good partnership in midfield because they are both strong and technical players but one would be Brazilian, one would be Italian. It would be a good mix.”

Bruno Guimaraes, Eduardo Camavinga and Elliot Anderson have also been linked with Carrick’s side as his scouting staff look over every option heading into the summer transfer window. It would come as a huge surprise if Casemiro did stay but if he did, Carrick would have a formidable midfield that would be extremely hard to breakthrough.
