Italian football legend Marco Materazzi has spoken on Casemiro's future at Manchester United.

Casemiro announced in January that he will leave United once his contract with the Red Devils expires on June 30th after several years with the club.

Reports state that the club decided not to trigger the 12-month extension on his four-year contract because they want to shift his gigantic £375,000-a-week salary off the wage bill.

MLS outfits Inter Miami and LA Galaxy are both keen on signing the five-time Champions League winner, but Materazzi spoke to Hajper about how if Carrick stays, so could the Brazilian.

“Would United be a good move for Sandro Tonali? I would only like to see him if he can play next to Casemiro next season.

“Casemiro now plays every game for United and he plays well. You never know. He could stay at United. Maybe if Michael Carrick stays and says that he wants to keep Casemiro he will stay?

“I think Tonali and Casemiro would be a very good partnership in midfield because they are both strong and technical players but one would be Brazilian, one would be Italian. It would be a good mix.”

Carrick has led his side to 3rd in the Premier League table and if Champions League football is secured, he could be handed the job permanently that may allow the club to hang on to Casemiro as he prepares to turn 35 years old.
