Man City set for tricky contract negotiations with Foden

Negotiations between City and Foden could prove more complicated than initially anticipated, says the Athletic. 

Foden's contract runs until 2027 and any extension was expected to include a substantial pay raise.

However, form and fitness has raised doubts among some of City's top brass.

This calendar year, Foden has only managed one assist and is still waiting for his first goal.

He has recently found himself on the sidelines more often under manager Pep Guardiola. The Catalan, however, continues to hold the England international in high regard.

An extension still seems likely, although negotiations could drag on.
