Manchester City have reportedly recalled Max Alleyne from his loan at Watford in a bid to replace Josko Gvardiol.

Gvardiol was forced off with an ankle injury after 51 minutes against Chelsea, who secured a 1-1 draw thanks to a late goal from Enzo Fernandez on Sunday afternoon.

Manager Pep Guardiola said: “We have a lot (of injuries). John Stones is missing for I don’t know how many months. Rúben now will be out, Josko will be out.

Nathan (Aké), always we know with Nathan he cannot play regularly. It’s the situation.

“Stay strong and we will find a solution. The spirit is there and will be there. Of course, I have concerns. Have you seen the bench today? Four players from the academy, and now we will have more. We don’t have players.”

On the possibility of a new signing, Guardiola added: “I don’t think so but we’ll see what happens because I know Ruben is a big loss and Josko is a big loss.”

Now, as reported by transfer expert Fabrizio Romano, the club are set to recall Max Alleyne from his loan at Watford

“EXCLUSIVE: Manchester City recall centre back Max Alleyne from Watford with immediate effect.

“#MCFC act fast as Josko Gvardiol will be out for several weeks with injury.

“City were very happy with Alleyne’s game time and development at Watford + need him now. Here we go.”

Fellow defender Ruben Dias was also forced off through injury, which triggered Guardiola to make the move for Alleyne who slides in alongside 20 year old Nico O'Reilly in what is a shaky defensive setup at the moment for City.
