The 20-year-old right-back is closing in on a century of appearances for the Citizens after he set up an Erling Haaland goal in a 4-0 Premier League win over Wolves at the weekend. Forest have been looking at a deal for the England international, who City value at more than £30M but it looks like his future is in Manchester.
Journalist David Ornstein reports that Lewis is close to signing a new deal with City as manager Pep Guardiola hopes to lock him down to a new deal which would secure his future at the side for a few more seasons.
“Man City close to agreement with Rico Lewis over new contract. Existing deal 2028; talks over extension to 2030 with no release clause. #NFFC pursued signing but 20yo England int’l set to stay at #MCFC.”
Transfer guru Fabrizio Romano also reports that the deal has been completed and Lewis has agreed to the terms put in front of him as he wants to play regular top flight football as he bids to be part of England's World Cup party next summer.
“Rico Lewis has agreed to sign new deal at Manchester City valid until June 2030.
“The agreement is done, as @Jack_Gaughan reports.

Lewis only started four of City’s last 16 matches before Wolves and was left out of the squad entirely for May’s FA Cup final defeat by Crystal Palace. Despite this, Guardiola has clearly made assurances on his play time which may be due to improve over the rest of the season as City chase down the title once more.
