He said afterwards: “Yeah, amazing day. Amazing weekend. The game today went very well for us, 2-0 win, we came out to the second half on top, and dominated. We are going to celebrate today and then international break.

“Yeah, over the moon with it. Especially because my family has come down and seen me lift the trophy. Being player of the match, and scoring two goals. They’re over the moon, and I’m so happy that I can make them happy.”

On what changes City boss Pep Guardiola made at half-time,he continued: ”I think it was more tactical. We had a few tweaks and changes in that sense and it worked. We found the spaces and hit them with it."

On if this win can kickstart their title charge, O'Reilly added: “yeah we definitely need to build on it. It’s a blow for them, we have a game in hand in the Premier League and we have to play them at our place.

"We will see how it goes after the international break, and try to kick on and go from here now.”
