Liverpool have reached a deal with Newcastle United over striker Alexander Isak this summer, who wants to move to Merseyside this summer.

Following Hugo Ekitike £79M move to the Reds from Eintracht Frankfurt earlier this month, Liverpool have not slowed down in their approach for Isak who is desperate for the move to the Premier League champions this summer.

The Swedish international was seen training alone last week and has misses the Magpies preseason preparations with what the club deem is a “thigh injury” that has not stopped Liverpool from increasing their approach for the striker who who scored 27 goals in 42 appearances last season.

Now, journalist Florian Plettenburg has revealed that the club have reached an agreement over Isak who will receive a huge pay rise if he does make the switch in the next few weeks.

“Understand: Alexander #Isak has already reached a verbal agreement in principle with Liverpool over a contract running until 2031.

“Isak wants to make the move to #LFC as early as this transfer window. The clubs are in contact. His salary at Liverpool would be similar to that of Hugo Ekitike’s.

“Newcastle are still pushing hard to sign Benjamin #Sesko – but Manchester United are also in the race. #MUFC.”

Ekitike has been given a salary worth around £13.8m-per-year, according to Patrick Berger, and now Isak is set to earn roughly the same amount should he arrive at Anfield which may surprise many considering Isak's experience in the league and how he is much older than Ekitike who will be fresh to the Premier League when the season begins.

Bringing in a striker of Isak’s calibre and versatility sends a signal to the rest of the league that manager Arne Slot will try and do the double and lift his second Premier League title in his second season in what would be the first time any manager has done so in the history of the league.
