Isak has three years left to run on his current deal, so Newcastle are said to be in a strong bargaining position and value the player at £150M. However, the Swedish international is desperate to leave and would likely protest if the Magpies do not accept a lower offer for the striker who is widely regarded as one of the best on the planet.
A report from Sky Switzerland says Isak has provisionally agreed a five-year contract at Anfield and that Liverpool are prepared to bid £100M for the 25-year-old who has made it clear in recent weeks that he wants nothing but a move to Merseyside. Isak earns around £130,000 a week at Newcastle and Liverpool are said to offering more than double that as well as a great chance at winning silverware next season.
Isak was sent home amid transfer speculation ahead of Newcastle's 4-0 defeat at Celtic earlier this month. He has since been training alone and he missed preseason since due to what the club say is a “thigh injury”. The report says a meeting is scheduled between the two clubs “in the next 48 hours” which would likely confirm negotiations for the Swede.
Liverpool have already signed Hugo Ekitike, who was essentially meant to be his replacement at Newcastle, and now the Magpies are set to lose their striker on top of missing out on the Frenchman in what has been a disastrous window so far for the club.
