Joe Gomez came off with a muscular problem after just 26 minutes in Liverpool’s 2-0 win over Brighton last weekend in what was another defensive blow for manager Arne Slot.
Meanwhile, star player this season Dominik Szoboszlai picked up a painful-looking ankle injury late in the match, leading him to be forced off and replaced with Federico Chiesa.
However, as reported by The Athletic journalist James Pearce, The Hungarian “has responded well to treatment in recent days” and should make a decision on Friday as to whether he will face Tottenham.
Pearce also reports that Gomez will be replaced by the returning Conor Bradley, who was returns from injury and suspension after the clash against the Seagulls.
Finally, the report states that summer signing Jeremie Frimpong is also due to return very soon after picking a hamstring injury on the first day of the season against Bournemouth before another against Eintracht Frankfurt in October.
The Dutchman has not featured since the Frankfurt and is unlikely to be rushed back against Spurs as he continues his rehab. Slot was only able to name an eight-man bench rather than the maximum permitted nine against the Seagulls, and the return of a few key players could seriously boost his side.
