The Black Cats won 3-0 thanks to goals from Habib Diarra and Chemsdine Talbi, along with an own goal.
Le Bris said afterwards, "It was important to react because we were really disappointed after West Ham, no energy, we were not Sunderland.
"Today it was important to show at least our way of playing with intensity, with bravery, with the ability to press high and create chances. This answer is really important because in the Premier League it is not easy to win games."
On Diarra's performance, he continued: "When you score two goals and you work hard for the squad I think it's perfect as a comeback as a start for the squad.
"We need freshness and even if they were away for Afcon and we struggled with a short squad. Now we have their energy, their positivity and it's like a new signing and hopefully we have that for the next few weeks."
Asked if whether 36 points will be enough to stay up, Le Bris added: "We set the target earlier around 40 points. It might be the case this season, maybe more, we don't know. We are in progress. We'll see as soon as possible to reach this target. If it's possible we'll set another one."
