Manchester United U21 coach Adam Lawrence has confirmed he's only contracted to the end of the season.

Lawrence, after leaving Newcastle, re-signed for United after Travis Binnion left the U21 job to join manager Michael Carrick's senior staff.

Lawrence had left United as U18 coach last summer for Newcastle.

"I think, in all honesty, it sounds safe answering in this way, but I've not really thought longer than the end of this current season. So obviously, when I came back in, I think it was the end of January," he told the Manchester Evening News.

"I think we're a couple of months into that, and then we still have a few more months left between now and the end of the season. So I knew coming in that it was until the end of the season, and then to see what happens. And I've not put too much time and energy into that, to be honest."

Asked about talks regarding a contract extension, Lawrence said: "I just think it's too early anyway. I wouldn't expect that to be in terms of like, I think at the moment, everyone is just really concentrated on between the first team and the academy programme.

"What we've got coming up within the next couple of months, and things will just happen organically over time. It's like my job is to put the energy into the players, the energy into the group, keep supporting the players, the staff working together to try and maximise these two, three months of the season."
