Alexander Isak bagged a goal for Sweden ahead of the World Cup this summer.

Norway raced out to a 3-0 lead at Oslo's Ullevaal Stadion this week, picking apart Sweden in what is a worrying sign for manager Graham Potter ahead of this summer’s competition.

The silver lining for Potter and Liverpool candidate Andoni Iraola is that Isak was called from the bench just after the hour mark in Oslo and after just 14 minutes, found the back of the net.

Isak curled an unstoppable shot into the far corner of the home side’s net and bypassing a defender, something Liverpool fans are yet to see from the 26 year old on Merseyside since his £125M move last summer.

The Liverpool star endured an injury hit first season with the Reds, playing just 22 games and only scoring four goals in the process under manager Arne Slot who failed to find the best way to best use him in attack.

Sweden will face Netherlands, Japan and Tunisia in Group F in a bid to reach the round of 32. Isak will hope to have a positive World Cup so he can return to the Liverpool camp with the confidence he has lacked over the past season.

With Slot gone, Iraola is the favourite to takeover and Isak may start to finally flourish at Liverpool as long as he can stay fit for the long term.
