Ahead of Saturday's St James' Park clash with Bournemouth, Howe was asked if he had sought assurances from the board about his position.
The Toon go into the game sitting 14th on the Premier League table, though only six points away from the European places.
Howe said this morning: "It's business as usual for me. I am obviously not in direct communication with the PIF on a daily basis. My focus is on coaching the team.
"There's a whole host of reasons (for their current form struggles). I don't want to sit here and give excuses and if you try and explain something it is perceived as excuses. We have got to do it."
Gordon speculation
Beyond his own position, Howe was asked about a week of transfer rumours swirling around winger Anthony Gordon.
Asked if he had raised the press reports with Gordon, the manager insisted: "I discuss things with players all the time. I don't discuss transfer speculation unless it gets to a point I have to.
"One thing I will not do I will not play any play any player I don't think is 100% committed to the club. I'm not talking about Anthony there, I am talking across the board.
"Players of the high profile we have here are in the news all the time. You have to adapt to it and play to your best level with the noise around you. I don't think any player can use that as an excuse and certainly the lads know collectively we need to play better and that is what we will be trying to do."
Euro play-off?
Newcastle face Bournemouth tomorrow with both teams needing a win to stay in touch with the battle for European qualification.
On the Bournemouth test, Howe said: "We are under no illusions this is a tough game; they are a very good team. They are on a great run in the Premier League. They’ve got clear strengths. We know what we need to do to win the game.
"Six games to finish the season on a really strong footing. We are all determined to do it. The training ground has been a different feeling this week but that can be a positive to try and get a good performance."
Howe also sought to rally Toon fans ahead of the clash.
"Our home form has always been the bedrock of our success. Our home form has got away from us in recent weeks and it is our number one priority to try and get it back. The benefits of playing at home are huge for us. There's tremendous support for us and we need to try and tap back into that. That's us and not the fans."
Bruno boost
Before concluding, Howe revealed Newcastle could receive a huge boost with Bruno Guimaraes potentially making tomorrow's matchday squad.
The club captain has been missing since February with a hamstring injury.
Howe added, "There is a chance. We've seen him in training. He's pushing hard to be involved. The medical team are trying to hold him back but he is desperate to play, desperate to help the team and I will make a decision on what I see on the training ground today."
