Manchester City defender Marc Guehi feels their form is coming together at the right time after today's FA Cup quarterfinal win against Liverpool.

City won 4-0 at the Etihad, with Erling Haaland hitting a superb hat-trick.

Guehi said afterwards: "It was a good win. The manager (Pep Guardiola) always says it is important to arrive at the right time. At the end of the season, there are big games and big moments and we did that today against Liverpool.

"You come up against big players and a big team so you have to suffer together and go through the game enjoying those moments."

On Liverpool not playing with a centre-forward, Guehi continued: "We were aware that they could do that and players are trying to pull you out of position. I think for the most part we did well."

Asked about playing with Haaland rather than against him, Guehi added: "Super happy for him. He has worked his hardest for the team and he went through a period when he wasn't scoring. We have got a chance to win a game up front, we've got good players all around the pitch."

The England defender has now beaten Liverpool five times playing for City and Crystal Palace this season.

Guehi laughed: "It's not me! It's just a coincidence to be honest. You have to enjoy it, it's not a long career so that's what I'm trying to do. At Man City it is relentless, having to learn a lot and make mistakes.

"I have been given the opportunity to do that with an amazing team, amazing manager and the fans have been great as well."
