Manchester City manager has aimed a dig at his injured players after their win over Wolves.

City currently have the likes of Josko Gvardiol, Ruben Dias, John Stones out injured in defence whilst Mateo Kovacic, Oscar Bobb, Nico Gonzalez and Savinho are out in the rest of the squad.

Despite the loss of players, City still managed against bottom of the league Wolves at the weekend thanks to goals from Antoine Semenyo and Omar Marmoush.

When asked about so many players being missing, Guardiola suggested that a lot of the injuries are mentally hard instead of physically.

“We have incredible doctors, incredible physios, (working) 24 hours (a day). I believe Johan Cruyff - my mentor, my idol, my everything. When he said to me ‘when a player doesn’t (want to) be injured, they will not be injured’.

“There are situations (where they are) unlucky, but when you are incredible (in shape) and you don’t want to be injured, you will not be injured. Unfortunately we have a lot, that is the problem that we have right now.”

Speaking ahead of this week’s clash with Galatasaray, Guardiola confirmed some worrying team news, as his side head to Turkey with a bare-bones side.

“We need our fans, we need them. I know Marc (Guehi) cannot play, Antoine (Semenyo) cannot play, Rodri cannot play, apart from all the players that we have sidelined. Nico Gonzalez will not be ready and Savinho will not be ready, and John Stones will not be ready.”
