City will be aiming to avoid losing a third consecutive game in all competitions as they welcome Wolves to Etihad Stadium for the first time since August, when the side cruised to a 4-0 victory.

Guardiola’s side have only two of their first seven games since the start of the year and enter the game on the back of a shock loss against Bodo/Glimt in the Champions League.

Is Haaland overworked?

Guardiola first touched upon Erling Haaland was asked if he has played too much in recent months, which may have led to a drop in form.

"Why do we talk about that subject again? Nothing is going to change. In Bodo, we had 11 players out. Aston Villa have a lot, Tottenham have a lot. It's not just us. It's a lot of games, but how many times do we talk about that? It's not going to change. He has a physicality to maintain.

Does Haaland need to apologize for the Bodo/Glimt loss:  "He has not to apologize. He has to do his best, and he's trying and when the team doesn't win, it's not belonging to one player. It's for everything, everyone. Don't apologize. Apologize to yourself, and give everything."

Arsenal are the best team in the world at the moment

Questions next turned to Arsenal, who enter their clash against Manchester United this week after a triumph over last year's Champions League finalists Inter Milan. Guardiola didn't hold back as he praised the Gunners who have been relentless this season.

"The best team right now in the world. Look in the Champions League, Premier League, FA Cup, and Carabao Cup.

"Hopefully, we can be close and hope they give us one chance to get them."

As City attempt to chase down Arsenal they must close down a 7 points gap which is more than possible in the second half of the season. However, many players must step up their performances including Rodri who has been overwhelmed with injuries since his Ballon d'Or victory in 2024.

Guardiola spoke on his poor form and says he needs more time to get to his old self.

"I know the reason why we are struggling now. I know 100%. It's been 11 months. Give him more time. Our standards are so high and I know the reason why we are a little bit inconsistent.

Will he ever get back to the Ballon d'Or winning Rodri? "I'm pretty sure, yes but that depends on the team as well and not just him."
