Guardiola said: “The way we train and compete. There are signs. I saw things in the games we played in USA and what did in the training sessions I like.

“After we won six Premier League in last eight years. When we start we never know if we’re going to win the Premier League but I see things I like even against Spurs.

“There are things I would like to do much, much better but that’s normal at this stage of the season.”

The manager also said: “We are not going to compare with the Centurions or four domestic trophies or four Premier Leagues in a row.

“We are going to lose. Before that I didn’t know in that moment we had down. Nothing is linear and the same.

“There are things I like but maybe in two months I will say how wrong I was. What I’ve seen since the World Cup I like the things I recognise when you make a good season.

“That doesn’t mean you win titles but I like the principles. That’s why I’m confident we’ll be fine.”
