Manchester City boss Pep Guardiola has sat down with the media ahead of this weekend's clash with Brighton.

Brighton succumbed to a 2-0 loss to Everton last weekend, while City collapsed to Tottenham with the same scoreline. Both Guardiola and Seagulls boss Fabian Hurzeler will be hoping for an improved performance as they meet on the South coast this Sunday.

Taking one game at a time

Guardiola was first asked City's start to the season which has not been perfect for a side who are hoping to compete for the title against the likes of Arsenal, Liverpool and Chelsea.

“One game at a time. That is the target. Yesterday we enjoyed the draw of the Champions League. We are going to be there with the elite of European football and after two games I have the belief we are going to do a good season.”

Facing some old faces

The Champions League draw was made on Thursday afternoon which saw City drawn with Napoli and Galatasaray and Guardiola was asked about facing Kevin de Bruyne and Leroy Sane who he says he is excited to see again.

“Kevin, Leroy, I am really pleased they come back here. Of course we need to beat the two teams, Napoli and Galatasaray, but it is nice to bring them back. The people will give them a great welcome and they deserve it.”

Ederson or Trafford?

Questions have been raised over who will start as City's main goalkeeper this season after the club signed James Trafford whilst Ederson remains at the club. Guardiola reveals the questions will be answered in a few weeks time.

"I will decide tomorrow. Because I don't have a press conference tomorrow.

"In this part of the season before the transfer window is closed, everything is possible. After that when we play United, Champions League, Arsenal, everything will be more clear.

"It's not just the keepers. It's the players. We have a long squad and people might leave with transfers and we have to accept it."

Man City's squad size

Finally, he was asked about the size of his squad, which he admitted was an issue earlier this year before selling several players, which has freed up some space in what is still a large player pool.

"The size of the squad is what it is. I know the club is doing the best it can. I’m so proud of my players. I’ve never met a player who doesn’t do his best. "
