Ederson left City for Fener in the final hours of the past summer market, so leaving him with no time to mark his departure after eight years with the club.
Ederson told The Sun: “The conversation I had with Pep is difficult to explain now because I had to speak to him on the phone, after games there’s no time to talk as he’s always busy.
“When he got back to me, he said, ‘You have to come to say a proper goodbye.’ Then the next day he sent me a message about how many wins I have in my career.
“But I love Pep, and I love him for his mentality. He’s the best coach of our time for me. It was a pleasure to work with him.”
He added, “Even the season before this one, I had already thought about leaving, but it didn’t happen.
“I think that affected my performance , I had five injuries and wasn’t at my best. That made me realise I needed a change.”
