Following the addition of Rayan Cherki from Lyon, City have looked formidable in attack this season. The winger bagged 13 goals and 21 assists across all competitions in the 2024-25 campaign last season, and has since grabbed three goals and three assists under Guardiola so far.
The 22-year-old produced an impressive performance against Liverpool at the weekend as City closed the gap on league leaders Arsenal. Now, ahead of France’s clash with Ukraine which could secure World Cup qualification for Les Bleus, Mbappe was asked on Cherki who he believes is an impressive talent.
"He's a special talent. I think he has a gift, which he's making the most of. It's an innate, spectacular talent. He's integrated very well into the group and into Manchester City, which isn't easy.
“I hope he continues like this. He's started well with us. Now he has the opportunity to return, and I hope he's as good as he was at Manchester City."
The Frenchman is now in line to receive his third cap for the senior side as he prepares to take on Ukraine and Azerbaijan. Cherki will aim to impress manager Didier Deschamps ahead of next year’s World Cup which would be his first.
