Wright is set to join the coaching staff of the U18 and U21 teams, says the Manchester Evening News.
He spent 10 years coaching inside City's academy before leaving for a sports agency in February 2024.
Wright worked with United football director Jason Wilcox at City and they're also former Blackburn teammates.
