In January, it was revealed that Palmer was not only a boyhood United fan but that the England star was also unsettled at Chelsea as he reportedly missed his friends back in Manchester.
The Sun reported that Palmer misses his hometown of Wythenshawe and frequently returns to see family and friends as he tries to stay away from London life.
This sparked links with him and the Red Devils as reports stated that he would never return to Manchester City.
Speaking to Stake, Evra revealed that Palmer could be a great addition to the United side even if the move seems difficult.
“I feel like everyone is a United fan and they don't play for United. As a kid, you can be a fan of a team, but it's different when you become a football player. Palmer is a very promising talent and a rising star, he's signed a big contract with Chelsea so I'm not sure if he'd be able to leave. I'd welcome him with open arms if he wanted to play for United.
“Right now, I'm more focused on United improving their defence. Palmer has had a lot of injuries and he needs to get back in form. When you play for United, you can't have a good month, you have to perform all year. That's the pressure of playing for this club. I can't say if Palmer takes United up a level, because the pressure there is different from what it is at Chelsea.
“Palmer, if you want to upset Manchester City the way Carlos Tevez upset United in the past, then you're more than welcome to join!”
A deal of around £100M would have to be reached for Palmer who could transform United from European contenders to title challengers if the move does gain ground this summer.
