Silva is expected to travel to Germany for a medical with Dortmund subject to board approval this week and reports state that he has already said goodbye to his Wolves teammates who knocked out West Ham United in the EFL Cup on Tuesday night.
After an impressive season in La Liga with Las Palmas, several clubs have been looking at the Portuguese striker including Roma and AC Milan who have both inquired about the forward in recent weeks.
Silva is the latest Premier League player to head to Dortmund as this week Chelsea’s Carney Chukwuemeka and Aaron Anselmino have linked up with the Bundesliga side who were desperately in need of reinforcements after a number of unfortunate injuries.
The news was announced by Sky Sports journalist Florian Plettenburg who reports that a fee has been agreed as the deal develops.
“Borussia Dortmund and Wolverhampton have agreed on a transfer for Fábio #Silva – fee around €25–26 million (22,5+4).
“However, AS Roma and AC Milan are still trying to hijack the deal. Silva had already agreed with #BVB until 2030. Final confirmation from the player is still pending now.
“Dortmund are hoping for the player’s definitive “yes”. Player’s camp confirms: not a done deal yet. As of now, Silva will not fly to Dortmund today.”
Dortmund, of course, are playing in the Champions League in 2025/26 whilst Roma can only offer the Europa League whilst Milan cannot offer Silva any European football whatsoever which puts them at a disadvantage in negotiations.
