However, he has now cut short that spell and returned to England to join Bristol City on a deal to 2027.
"Ranel is a versatile player with a lot of talent, and we are excited for him to join our under-21s set up," Bristol City football chief Brian Tinnion said.
"He adds quality and has a host of potential in the game."
Bristol City have also snapped up former Ipswich Town captain Sam Morsy after a short spell with Kuwait FC.
