Aston Villa manager Unai Emery has spoken to the media as his side prepare to face Nottingham Forest.

Elliott is not in Emery's plans

Emery was firstly questioned on Liverpool loanee Harvey Elliott who has barely played for the side who are not keen on forking out his £30M clause which would trigger after a certain number of appearances.

“I am respecting him all we can because he’s a very good professional, very respectful, but the situation we have is something.

"The problem we have with Harvey is this year he is on loan and in case he is playing matches, we must buy him.

“We decided two months ago we are not convinced to sign him, spending the money we need.

“This is the issue. But he is training every day, very good with us to help us in training and of course it is not good for him or good for us, but it is football, and sometimes we must take decisions that are not good for us."

Busy schedule is getting to Villa

Team news was next on the agenda and Emery revealed that the fixture schedule is affecting his side who are competing in multiple competitions, forcing him to rotate his squad to lower the risk of exhaustion and injuries.

"We are playing three years in a row Premier League, Europe, cups, 55 matches. Hopefully again we will play more or less 55 matches. Then you have players with international teams as well.

"Through this demand, of course, it increases the risk for injured players. We must be ready with the players we have.

"Now we have some injured players - some are close to coming back, but still a lot of players not available for tomorrow. But, still enough players to compete."

Could Alysson help with rotation?

New signing Alysson, a 19-year-old Brazilian winger, could help with rotation as Emery revealed that he has the qualities to help Villa push to the next level over the next few seasons as his side aim for a title push.

"He is very young. He was developing in Brazil and has been fantastic as a young player.

"He is a winger playing on the right side but is left-footed. We signed him thinking in his development with us we can exploit his potential as a player.

"As a winger, he has good dribbling. He is playing usually on the right side and physically and defensively doing good work. He can defend, he can attack, and he is intense.

"He is young so the adapting first is in training and then progressing hopefully in the Premier League with the demand we have."
