Having left Marseille in February, De Zerbi is set to return to the Premier League this week as he agrees to join Spurs before their clash against Sunderland this weekend.
TalkSPORT report he has an agreement in place to take over at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, with journalist Ben Jacobs also reporting that he is ready to take over the side as soon as possible.
“BREAKING: Roberto De Zerbi's move to Spurs is now agreed in principle.”
If De Zerbi is announced as the new Tottenham boss, he will have just seven games to save the club from relegation to the Championship as they creep closer to the drop zone.
Tottenham are 17th in the Premier League, just one point outside of the relegation zone. The side are also winless in 2026 and need a significant boost if they are to avoid a drop-down to the second division.
The North London side have seen Ange Postecoglou, Thomas Frank and recently Igor Tudor take charge of a squad who seem destined to drop down due to inconsistent results throughout the season.
De Zerbi will have more than a week with the players before the trip to face Sunderland due to Tottenham being knocked out of the FA Cup earlier this season.
This clash will be followed six days later by a home game against his former club Brighton and then clashes against Leeds, Everton, Wolves, Aston Villa and Chelsea.
