Aaron Hickey is a major doubt for Scotland’s World Cup qualifier against Belarus after picking up another awkward injury.

Scotland’s remarkable 3-1 win over Greece at Hampden Park was a fantastic result for manager Steve Clark who praised was impressed with his side after the game.

However, the game was dampened by the injury to Hickey, who returned to the Scotland team for the first time in two years. He was substituted in the 58th minute in what Clarke deemed to be a "small injury".

"He's just tweaked his knee," Clarke confirmed.

"Aaron was actually a doubt to start the game after picking up a small knock to his knee and I think he's just aggravated it.

"I don't know for sure yet, but that was the reason I called Max (Johnston) into the squad as cover."

Manager Keith Andrews will be hoping the issue is not too serious as Hickey just made his first Premier League start since October 2023 against Manchester United. Another injury would seriously hurt his chances under Andrews who will overlook him for their next clash against West Ham United.
