Barcelona great Gerard Pique says Manchester United's players must take responsibility for the club's struggles since Sir Alex Ferguson's departure in 2013.

Pique left Barca as a teen for United before returning to the Nou Camp just as he was breaking into Ferguson's senior team.

Pique said on The Late Run Show: "They invest huge amounts of money and the players have to show that they are worth it. Right now it is very easy to blame the coach when the results are not there.

"That is often the case in football, when a team does not perform the coach gets the blame. But that is not true."

Pique, now owner of Segunda Division Andorra, says the players need to take responsibility.

"t's the players who are on the pitch and they have to deliver results. There have been several coaches in recent years, so at some point the players have to take responsibility," he concluded.
