After suffering a broken right foot in January against Manchester United, the midfielder was initially ruled out for an extended period.
However, with the end of the season approaching, and especially with the announcement of the Spain squad list for the World Cup just around the corner, Arteta has positive news.
He declared: "Mikel is an example of resilience, he is doing a lot of exercises. He responded very well to the surgery and no longer feels pain.
"I am sure it can shorten recovery time. If anyone is capable of doing it, it is him."
