AC Milan sporting director Igli Tare has opened up on Manchester United striker Rasmus Hojlund who is set to leave this summer.

Hojlund's time at United is all but over as he was left out of their squad to face Arsenal in what was a dire 1-0 loss for The Red Devils who suffered their first defeat despite mass spending over the past few months.

The Danish international, who joined for £72m two years ago, was United's main striker last season and scored 10 goals in 52 games. His poor form has left Amorim with no choice but to let him go this summer in what is a ruthless move for the 22 year old who has not had the time to develop or adapt in the Premier League.

Links to AC Milan for Hojlund have been getting stronger in recent weeks and interest has now been confirmed by Tare who admits that they would love to bring the young striker in but are unsure of what will happen as the transfer window remains open.

"Hojlund is a good option for us.

"We are thinking about him, but in the transfer market, you never know what could happen."

Amorim splashed out £74M on Benjamin Sesko from RB Leipzig and he will directly replace the Dane who will be open to joining Milan if an offer does crop up. United's preference is a permanent sale for Hojlund, but there is an acceptance that he may have to depart on loan due to his high wages which are always a problem for a departing player from the club.
