The forward had also attracted interest from Bayern Munich and his former club RB Leipzig and The Blues had reportedly rejected a loan move from the Bundesliga champions as the Premier League club sought a sale to help their financial situation.
Nkunku struggled to make the desired impact during his first two years at Stamford Bridge and manager Enzo Maresca has deemed him to be surplus to requirements after 48 appearances which saw him score 15 and grab 5 assists, with the majority of his contributions coming in the Conference League.
The deal was announced by transfer expert David Ornstein who revealed that the details are agreed by both parties.
“AC Milan reach agreement with Chelsea to sign Christopher Nkunku. Deal for 27yo forward €42m + sell-on clause to #CFC. Permission granted to travel & personal terms in place as France int’l closes in on #ACMilan move @TheAthleticFC post @FabrizioRomano”
The French international still had four years left on his Chelsea deal and the fact that several top European clubs were chasing his signature says a lot about the quality he still posseses. The Paris Saint-Germain academy graduate will now apply his craft in the Serie A where Milan are chasing down the title once again.
