The former Manchester United and Juventus star was a second-half substitute in the 4-1 reverse, marking a first competitive appearance in over two years due to injury and a doping ban.
He told reporters afterwards: "Above all, I was disappointed to lose this match. It's true that my return was expected, but I'm Monegasque and I don't like losing, so it's a very mixed feeling.
"Deep down, of course I'm happy to have returned to competition, but I'm frustrated with the result and what we did on the pitch. My first thought when I came home was to help the team score a goal and not concede."
On the standing ovation for when he came on, Pogba continued: "Honestly no (I didn't expect it), it really touched me to see the audience stand up and applaud. I really didn't imagine that so a big thank you to all the fans who were present and who supported me, it was really touching!
"I really wanted to bring good energy, not to concede a goal and to have fun because it had been a really long time. I'm relieved to have returned to football, which I love most in the world! Now there is still work to do to get back into great shape, be able to play 90 minutes and help the team as much as possible.
"I've been looking forward to playing for months. Of course it wasn't the scenario we wanted but the coach gave me this chance, someone else could have come in too but he did it despite the result."
Pogba added, "I am a challenger and for me football is not over. We work hard, I waited over two years to come back and today I did. I have always kept hope and now we are going to look for other objectives."
