Paez found himself on the outer of former coach Liam Rosenior's plans before his appointment by Chelsea last week.
While local sources say Chelsea could recall the teen and send him on-loan elsewhere on the continent, it's understood Blues management want Paez to see out the season in France.
Chelsea are counting on new Strasbourg coach Gary O'Neil having a positive impact on the attacker.
So far this season, Paez has made 20 appearances for Strasbourg, scoring once. He has managed just the four starts in Ligue 1.
