Asked about Vini Jr's fitness, Arbeloa referred to Brazil coach Carlo Ancelotti and his use of the attacker in their friendlies this week against France and Croatia.

He said,  "He's tired because my friend Carletto hasn't given him much rest, which is normal.

"The demands at Real Madrid and Brazil are enormous. Vini has a heavy workload of matches; he hasn't stopped for a single day, and today we'll see how he is and then we'll decide."

Pushed about Kylian Mbappe, who left Madrid to join France's squad amid claims of a wrong diagnosis from Real's medical staff regarding a knee strain, Arbeloa was eager to move on.

He said, “We need to forget about the knee now and focus on his goals.

“I’ve never had the slightest complaint from him. It’s a privilege to have a player of that caliber and with that humility."

Arbeloa also had a word for a fully fit Eder Militao, adding: “When he's fit, he's the best center-back in the world. It feels like there are two players when he's on the pitch. He's intelligent, a leader, and a game-changer. I'm very happy with his return...”
