He revealed: "We were linked to some big clubs. But they were just small inquiries, I'm not even talking about contacts... rumours, you know?
"When I came back from Rome, leaving behind a very interesting project, with the possibility of going to Arsenal, and I chose Sevilla, it was to stay in Sevilla forever.
"Then circumstances, which I've recounted many times, led me to leave and go to Birmingham (Villa), but at that time in Barcelona there was nothing more than rumours and a few calls, but nothing substantial."
