The former Everton striker has joined Sevilla on-loan from Olympique Marseille to the end of the season.
Maupay said: "It's been a bit tough for me being on the sidelines, watching the team play every weekend, but I knew I had to be ready, training hard, because there would be opportunities for me in January.
"That helped me a lot to focus and keep believing. Now I'm ready to continue."
Maupay was asked about his decision to join Sevilla and admits a chat with coach Matias Almeyda convinced him.
He explained: "He told me he needed a player like me, and I replied that I hoped there would be a quick agreement between the clubs so I could come.
"I liked his mentality and what he's achieving with the team. Sometimes your heart tells you what's good and what isn't for you. I felt he was a good coach and an even better person.
"He's very approachable with the players and gives them a lot of confidence, which is something I need. I'm sure everything will work out."
